Obituary of Charles W. Hammonds

Charles W. Hammonds, age 78, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord and be reunited with his wife, Charlotte, on Monday, October 15, 2018 at his residence.  He was born in Scott County, VA, where he resided until moving to Kingsport. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a retiree of Holliston Mills with more than 32 years of service. Charles enjoyed gardening, sports and spending time with his grandchildren and brothers. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Charles was known for his loving heart and admired for the care he gave for his precious wife Charlotte during her battle with multiple sclerosis. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Charlotte S. Hammonds; parents, Johnny and Lucille Hammonds; and 2 brothers, John Henry and Donald W. Hammonds.

            He is survived by his son, Anthony W. Hammonds and wife, Sandra; 3 grandchildren, Cody Dingus and wife, Courtney, Ryan Hammonds and Audrey Hammonds; great-granddaughter, Paisleigh Dingus; brother, Danny Hammonds and wife, Gail; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

            The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Joe Hill and Bro. Brad Christian officiating. Music will be provided by the Christian family. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October, 18, 2018 at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Kingsport. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 pm.
