Obituary of William H. "Bill" Eachen

William H. (Bill) Eachen, age 80, entered eternal Glory at his residence after a noble battle of fighting several lengthy illnesses on Sunday, October 21, 2018.

He was born in Buren, Germany where his family resided until after WWII, and his mother married an American Soldier who adopted Bill and his siblings. He became a Naturalized American Citizen and proudly served in The United States Navy for 8 years. Bill made his career at Mead Paper and retired under the Willamette administration of the company, he would go back and work part time for Domtar until the birth of his grandsons in 2005. He was a full time "Opa" and cared for his dear wife when she was sick.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Marta Eachen; and his beloved wife and soulmate of 50 years, Betty Eachen.

He is survived by his beloved daughter and care giver, LeAnn Eachen; two precious grandsons, Landon William Broome and Andrew M. Broome; special brother in law who was like a brother, William (Billy) & Ann Bellamy; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Eachen and Frank Eachen; sister, Ada Little; sister-in-law, Margaret Killen; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm in the chapel. The Rev. Karl Berndt will be opening the service, Eulogy will be by LeAnn Eachen and Rev. Raymond Hammonds. Music will be provided by Aaron, Joshua and Andy Tate and Holly Berndt. A special prayer will be provided by Rev. Samuel Newland. Military graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Ross Campground UMC Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, TN with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 performing military rites and Rev. Raymond Hammonds officiating. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 am. Pallbearers serving the family will be; Randall Davidson, Danny Davidson, Charles Eachen, Frank Eachen, Aaron Tate and Rev. Karl Berndt.
