Obituary of Ella Mae Archer

Ella Mae Archer, age 87, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family and special friend. She was an active member of Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church and the Church’s United Methodist Women. Ella Mae was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, crocheter and knitter; and she taught crochet. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Geree Archer; parents, Charlie and Maedell Hilton; brother, Quincy Hilton; and sister, Dorothea Hilton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Lonnie Archer; children, Donna Ferguson (Jeff) and Charles Archer (Pam); grandchildren, Andrew Warrick and Major Christopher L. Archer (Megan); 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; step-grandson, Eric Ferguson (Michel); step-granddaughters, Maria LaBarbera (Joe), Beth Wayland, and Abby Weaver (Jordan); special cousin, Floyd “Wayne” Thompson (Pat);  special friends, Barbara Keith and Ella Mae’s church family; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 pm with Pastor Steve Hopkins officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. All those wishing to attend the burial are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 pm.
