Obituary of James Sherman Orrick

James S. “Jim” Orrick, 79, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his residence.

Jim was born on February 21, 1939 in Kingsport to the late Leslie “Pete” Orrick and Eula Holt Shelbourne. Jim was an avid fisherman and loved Striper fishing. He was the president of the Kingsport Eagles in 1970. One of his greatest joys was racing at the Kingsport Speedway and Coeburn Raceway; he was rookie of the year in 1973. Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for many years at Holston Defense before his retirement in 1993. Jim was a loving husband, father, popaw, brother, and friend to all he knew.

 

Along with his parents Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Lucian Orrick; and sister, Sharon Bowling.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn Miller Orrick; son, Allen Orrick and wife Lynn; daughter, Dee Dee Seymore and Fiancé  Dean Tyree; grandchildren, Dustin Orrick, Cassidy King, and Braden Seymore; brother, Bill Orrick and wife Billie; sister, Pat Simpson and husband Clifford; and several nieces and nephews.

 

There will not be any services due to the family honoring Jim’s wishes.
