Obituary of Jim W. Murphy
Jim W. Murphy 67, of Kingsport passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Scott Co., VA to the late Paul and Ruble Stallard Murphy. Jim was a graduate from Gate City High School following his graduation he went to work for Eastman Chemical Co. where he retired from. He was an avid hunter and belonged to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Jim was also a lifelong fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and enjoyed attending many games.
Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Meade and husband Earnie; nephew, Craig Meade and wife Regina; niece, Mitzi Sturgill and husband Paul; great nephews, Coty and Austin Sturgill; great nieces, Katie-Lynn and Kelcie Meade; along with several cousins and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, December, 18, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating. Friends may also visit anytime at Mitzi Sturgill’s home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery.
