Obituary of Charles A. Hunley
CHARLES (CHARLIE) HUNLEY
Kingsport- Charles A. (Charlie) Hunley, 74, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord and his wife on Tuesday morning (December 18, 2018). He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1964 where he starred on the basketball team being known as “Hot Rod Hunley”. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Eastman Credit Union with 38 years of service. Mr. Hunley was a proud member of Temple Baptist Church where he loved the men he served with on the the deacon board. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir. His four grandchildren who only knew him as “Pop” were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years on October 31, 2018, Frances Hunley; his mother, Georgia Conley.
Charles (Charlie) Hunley is survived by his sons, Damon Hunley and wife, Donna, Blake Hunley and wife, Shelley; his grandchildren, Madyson Hunley, Bella Hunley, Cameron Hunley, and Irelynd Hunley along with several additional family members and dear friends.
A visitation will take place on Saturday (December 22, 2018) from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the son, Blake Hunley, 1000 S. River Drive in Kingsport. A funeral service will take place on Saturday (December 22, 2018) at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker, officiating. Music will be provided by Wayne Fortner. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3/ # 265 following the funeral on Saturday (December 22, 2018) at East Lawn Memorial Park with Damon Hunley, Blake Hunley, Cameron Hunley, Steve Johnson, Pete Baird, Joe Blakely, Ben Ridenour, Larry Ridenour, and Bill Ridenour serving as pallbearers.
