Obituary of William Beard McDuff

William Beard “Mac” McDuff 101, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home. Mac was born in Queen City, Texas to the late William McDuff Sr. and Emma Jane Thomas McDuff. He served his country in United States Navy during World War II. Following his service in the Navy he went to work for Local Ironworkers chapter 402 of West Palm Beach, FL where he retired from in 1982. When Mac was 12 years old he received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus name. Mac was a devoted member of Christian Life UPC since 1993 where he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Brown McDuff; sisters, Dovey Rife, Ermie McDuff, and Agnus Green; brothers, Clifton B. McDuff, Clyde McDuff, and Horace McDuff; granddaughter, Karen Zimmerman; grandson, Justin Roberts.

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Lola McDuff; daughters, Magdalyn Zimmerman; Carolyn Peters and husband Larry, Cindy Roberts and husband Gary; sons, Jimmy Rhoton and wife Barbara, Roger Rhoton and Diana, Larry Rhoton and wife Marsha, and Jeff Rhoton; 23 grandchildren, 35, great-grandchildren;6 great-great-grandchildren; beloved pet, Apache along with a host of friends and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 2pm to 3pm on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Christian Life Center UPC. A funeral service will follow with Bro. Eddie Johnson, Bro. Keith Barker, Bro. Jeremy Damesworth, and Bro.  Dwayne Cornelius officiating.  The family will also receive friends anytime at the home.

A military graveside will be conducted at 11am on Monday, December 24, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 conducting the honors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the ushers from Christian Life Center UPC. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.
