Obituary of Paul Curtis Babb

Kingsport – Paul Curtis Babb, 79 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 20, 2018 at Nova Healthcare in Weber City following a lengthy illness. He was born in Scott County where he spent most of his life. Paul retired from Eastman Kodak in 1993. Following retirement, Paul worked at Bloomingdale Saw and Mower Service. As a hobby, he enjoyed selling produce. He was founder and active member of the Wadlow Gap Ruritan Club where he had served as president. Paul also served as Southwest Virginia District Governor of Ruritan National. He devoted many hours to bingo in order to help others in need in the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Gladys (Starnes) Babb; sister, Bobbie Jean Dean; brothers, Rodney, Junior and Tony Babb; step-daughter, Jamie Davis.

Paul is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathy Davis Babb; daughters, Karen (Rick) Gibson and Tonya (Andrew) Palmer; grandchildren, Jennifer (Wes) Fleming, Jessica (Brett) Lifford, Austin Palmer and Peyton Palmer; step-grandsons, Cobi Eidson and Jordan Eidson; great- granddaughter, Jamie Berry; great-grandsons, Ethan Fleming, Tanner Fleming and Will Lifford;  sisters, Faye (Richard) Anderson, Judy Miller and Teresa (Carl) Tipton; brother, Ronnie (Linda) Babb; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.

A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Elder Scott Tipton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Paul’s memory, to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 N Boone Street, Suite 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and CNA’s at Nova Healthcare.
