Obituary of Roy Ervin Swan

Roy Ervin Swan, 76, of Kingsport passed peacefully from this world on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

 

Roy received his degree in mathematics from the University of Oregon. There he met the love of his life, Trudy, with whom he was married to for over 50 years.  After graduating from college he was commissioned as a 2nd LT in the United States Army. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. After his honorable service he received his Master’s Degree from Troy State University. For many years Roy ran his own accounting firm in Oregon. Following his career he retired to the mountains of Virginia, before moving to Kingsport. Roy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Trudy Swan; daughter, Kim Stensrud and husband Glenn; and granddaughters, Jessica Short and Emma Stensrud.

 

A military graveside service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:30 am at Mountain Home National cemetery with honors provided by American Legion Hammond Post #3/265. 

 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 200 Bays Cove Trail, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660, with Pastor Randy Lance officiating. 

 

Carter Trent Funeral Home, Downtown Kingsport is serving the Swan Family.
