Obituary of Walter K. Gibson, Sr.

Nickelsville – Walter K. Gibson, Sr. 79 of Nickelsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Gibson; his parents, Fleetwood and Lillie Bright Gibson; sisters, Thelma, Sue Ella, Bobbie Jo and Jearline Gibson, Ann Clement and Nancy Grady; brother, James Gibson.

Walter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Collins Gibson; daughter, Angela Repass; son, Walter K. Gibson, Jr.; grandchildren, Kayla and Cody Repass and Tristan Gibson; sisters, Melvia Bishop and Nina Dorton and husband Ronnie; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.

A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor George Winegar officiating. Music will be provided by Salleys Chapel Church Choir.

A military graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at Holston View Cemetery with the VFW Post #9754 and the Virginia National Guard conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
