Obituary of Duane Dale Starke

Duane Starke 82, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord and his two sons on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side. Duane was born in Aldrich, Minnesota and spent most of his childhood in Motley, Minnesota where he graduated as valedictorian from Motley High School. After graduation he joined the Minnesota Nation Guard where he served for over 9 years. Duane attended and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. He then began his career with IBM Corporation while also attending the University of Minnesota. Duane was employed by IBM Corporation for over 35 years where he worked as Administration Manager and received numerous service awards. After his retirement he and his wife spent 2 and a half years in Japan as well as 4 years in Turkey as missionaries teaching English as a second language. He and his wife Carol were also blessed to travel to several cities in Europe and Asia during this time. Throughout his lifetime he both loved and shared the Lord. He was a well-loved and recognized Sunday School teacher.  Duane was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by sons, Scott and Brent Starke; parents, Joseph and Naomi Starke; father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Ardis Cook; sister, Aloris Starke.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Carol Starke; daughter, Kim Hamilton and husband Bill; grandchildren; Ashley Ball and husband Chris, Sara Miller and husband Matt, Lisa Starke, and Brett Hamilton; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Ball; brother, Ronald Starke and wife Betty; along with several nieces, one nephew, and many many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A celebration of life service will follow with Pastor Lamar Herndon officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Wycliffe Bible Translators at P.O Box 628200 Orlando, Florida 32862-8200.
