Obituary of Arda Mae Ford

Arda Todd Ford, age 79, of Church Hill, won her battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab. She was a member of Fudge’s Chapel UMC but attended Lebanon UMC both in Church Hill. Arda was also a member of the The Eagles Auxillary #3141, Daughters of the American Revolution – Long Island Chapter and United States Daughters of 1812 – Elijah Cross II Chapter. She loved singing, gardening, animals and was a comedian and had a gift to make others laugh. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51+ years, Franklin Dale Ford; parents, William Lee and Dorothy Hazel Hicks Todd; 2 sisters, Hazel Odham and Ruth Lingerfelt; 3 brothers, Mack Todd, Bill Todd and James Guy Todd.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Matina Farmer and husband, Dale, and Misty Davis and husband, Anthony; granddaughter, Shandi Fairweather and husband, Micheil; 2 great-grandchildren, Anthony and Vanessa Fairweather; 3 brothers, Ray Todd, Joe Todd and wife, Nellie, and Jackie Todd and wife, Sandra; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab for their love and support during Arda’s time of declining health.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tim Hodges and Mary Jane Farmer, CLP, officiating. Interment will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.cartertrent.com.
