Obituary of Owen Agee Way
Owen Way, 82, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening (May 5, 2019) at Holston Valley Medical Center following a very brief illness. He was born in Elizabethton, TN and had resided in Kingsport the majority of his life. Owen was a graduate of Lynn View High School in 1954. He retired from the Medical Department with Eastman Chemical Company following over 40 years of service. Mr. Way was very instrumental in organizing the Colonial Heights Optimist Little Leagues. He volunteered with Providence Medical Clinic and was a very active member with Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. He was currently serving on the Sullivan County Department of Archives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nancy Way; his sister, Peggy Bishop and a brother, Bill Way.
Owen Way is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marianne Baird Way; his children, Andy Way and wife, Becky, Mary Elliott and husband, Rick, and Brad Way; his grandchildren, Blake Way, Grant Way, and Hannah Elliott and fiance`, Corey Nelms along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday (May 8, 2019) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the parlor at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A celebration of life service will take place on Wednesday (May 8, 2019) at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. Music will be provided by Melissa Woods. A private graveside service will take place on Thursday (May 8, 2019) at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Way, Brad Way, Rick Elliott, Cory Nelms, Marvin Little, and Gerald Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, 631 Lebanon Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
