Obituary of J. Dan Bullion

J. Dan Bullion

Born 9-11-1941

As the morning of May 11, 2019 dawned, our dear husband and father peacefully took his last breath on this mortal soil. His soul took flight to its eternal abode of heavenly comfort and unspeakable bliss. At last his wish to see Jesus face to face was granted. Those of us that remain, grieve his loss from our midst, but rejoice in the knowledge that he has attained what we still are striving for – our eternal home in heaven.

His accomplishments in life were many. He worked for 12 years at Eastman, 26 years teaching high school where he had a positive influence on many young lives. He spent 7 years as a pastor at First Church of God in Johnson City. He was also a flight instructor at Tri-City Airport. God blessed him with a beautiful singing voice, and he sang with many quartets and trios, the last of which being a trio at his home church, His Singing Servants.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, James D. and Anna Bullion.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dixie Wisley Bullion; children, Ginger Arnold (Richard), Trevor Bullion (Amanda), and Misty Sloan (Ron); grandchildren, Emily Pressley, Mary-Tate Bullion, Parker Bullion, and Emma Bullion; sister, Patsy Pilgrim (Fritz); aunt, Mary Bullion Edwards; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm at Kingsport Community Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Ron Lowe and Pastor Stephen Collins officiating. Music will be provided by Mark Stayton.

A graveside service will be held at 9 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 8:50 am.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Suncrest Hospice for their loving care.

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
