Obituary of James P. Davis

JAMES  P.  DAVIS

Kingsport-  James Davis, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday morning (May 16, 2019) at his home following a brief illness.  He was born in Scott County, Virginia and had resided the majority of his life in Kingsport.  James worked at the Kingsport Press for over 25 years.  He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Madeline Davis; a brother, William Walker Davis and wife, Betty.

James Davis is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy Davis; a daughter, Stephanie Lovelace and partner; his son, Jeffery Davis and wife, Heather ; granddaughters, Madison Lovelace and Chloe Davis; his brother, LeRoy Davis and wife, Eileen along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Saturday (May 18, 2019) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at the residence.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday (May 18, 2019) at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Stout, officiating.  A graveside service will follow the funeral service on Saturday (May 18, 2019) at Stallard Gray Cemetery (Midway) with Jeff Davis, T. J.
