Obituary of Virginia Joyce "Joy" Snapp
Surgoinsville - Virginia Joyce “Joy” Snapp, 88, of Surgoinsville, TN went home on October 12, 2019. She was born in Love’s Mill Community at Chilhowie, Virginia on March 15, 1931 to the late Josephine Duncan Love and Daniel S. Love. Mrs. Snapp was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College and ETSU majoring in Home Economics and Social Studies. She taught thirty seven years in Washington County Tennessee and Hawkins County Tennessee. She was a faithful member of Okolona United Methodist Church and also First Broad Street United Methodist Church. She served her church faithfully all her life beginning in Mountain View United Methodist Church at Chilhowie, Virginia; 25 of those years were serving and supporting her husband Rev. Lee R. Snapp in the Abingdon, Johnson City, Kingsport and Morristown District of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Lee R. Snapp; sisters, Martha Edmondson, Elizabeth Love and Edna Heptinstall; brothers, William Love, Joseph Love, Reid Love, Robert Love and Jack Love.
Joy is survived by her son, Dan Snapp and wife Patsy; grandchildren, Joseph Snapp and wife Josie of GA, Nathan Snapp and wife Michele of Limestone, Lura Meade and husband Nathan of Bristol; great-grandchildren, Paige and Elijah Snapp, Laiklyn and Jolee Meade, Ander and Ayla Snapp; along with Paige Hughes and several loving nieces/nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill.
A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jeff Wright, Rev. Terry Fleenor and Rev. Greg Fletcher officiating. Music will be provided by John Powers.
