Obituary of Fannie Evalee McClain

Blountville – Fannie “Dood” Evalee Pope McClain, 87, who was born on November 1, 1931, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at her residence following a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Blountville and was retired from the Sullivan County School System.  Fannie was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie McClain; parents, Lloyd and Della Browder Pope; sister, Margaret (Claude) Myers; brothers, Emmett (Anna) Pope, Lee Roy (Nancy) Pope, Vance (Ruth) Pope, Joseph Ray (Helen) Pope and Ralph “Buster” Pope.

 

Fannie is survived by her daughters, Peggy Jayne and husband Tom, Barbara Allison and husband Fred and Frances Bowen; son, Ronnie McClain and wife Mickie; grandchildren, Leslie Counts and husband Jason, Noah Bowen, Tyler McClain and fiancé Morgan Hilton and Kaitlyn McClain; great-granddaughters, Madelyne Morrell and Kenley Counts; great-grandson, Brayden Counts; brother, Gene Pope and wife Evelyn; sisters-in-law, Deloris Pope, Virginia A. McClain, Gerri Pope ,Virginia B. McClain and Mary “Boo” Pope; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Mary Lockamy.

 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home.

 

A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Lew Kizer officiating.

 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mtn Home National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Pallbearers will be David McClain, Robert McClain, Richard McClain, Jason Counts, Tyler McClain, Noah Bowen and Junior Pope. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Hughes, Dr. Malcolm Jones, Charlie Weaver, Douglas McClain and Richard Jones.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem UMC, 230 Boozy Creek Road, Blountville, TN 37617.
