Obituary of Alma Barnette Dockery

Alma Barnette Dockery 89, of Weber City went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by her family. Alma was born October 17, 1930 in Scott County, VA where she lived her entire life. Alma was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as her two cats, Tip and Rusty. Alma was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ida Ramey Barnette; two brothers, William “Bill” Barnette and Eugene Barnette.

Alma is survived by her three sons, Ivan Dockery, SR., Jackie (Marcia Denise) Dockery, and Billy Dockery; grandchildren, Ivan (Stephanie) Dockery Jr., Christina (Josh) Smith, Jessica (Brian) Hass, Kristin Dockery and fiancé Jerome, and Bryan Dockery; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ariel, Shyanna, Cassidy, Brayden, and Katelyn.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home a funeral service will follow with Pastor Scott Fields officiating. Music will be provided by Chris Holder and Journey Home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3pm on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Midway. Pallbearers will be Ivan Dockery Jr., Josh Smith, Brian Hass and other family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:15pm to go in procession to the cemetery.
