Obituary of Freida Gaye Shaffer

Following a valiant fight with cancer, Freida Vaughn Shaffer, of Hiltons Va., completed her journey to heaven Sunday morning. Her final steps were taken at home with loving family and friends by her side. For 57 years, this world was blessed with her presence. Freida was loving, compassionate, caring, and strived to help and provide for those in need. She was devoted to her family, loved her pets, and shared her kindness with everyone she met. Freida was an exemplary wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved her family dearly, was loved by all who knew her, and will be missed by all.

 

Freida was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Betty Vaughn, and her father-in-law; James Shaffer. She is survived by her husband of 38 years; Dale (Tony) Shaffer, Son; Brian Shaffer, Daughter; Amber Jenkins & husband Brandon, Grandson; Riley Jenkins, Sister; Rebecca Vaughn and son Steven, Brothers; Mike Wise, and John & David Vaughn, mother-in-law; Doris Shaffer, numerous brother & sister in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Larry Meade officiating. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Holston View Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
