Obituary of Jackie "Jack" A. Reed
Jackie “Jack” A. Reed, 83, of Blountville, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020, at his residence.
Jack lived most of his life in Kingsport. He was the son of the late Burl and Hattie Richardson Reed.
Jack was a U.S. Army veteran. He had thirty-two years of service at Eastman Chemical Company. Jack attended Orebank Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, morning breakfast with his friends at Hardee’s and all Tennessee Vols sports.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one daughter, Andrea Salvagno; four brothers, Mescal, Charles, George and Avery.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Jenny Reed; one daughter, Beth Medlin and her husband Gary; two sisters, Maline Meade and Joyce Martin; one brother, Darvis Reed and his wife Carolyn; four grandchildren, Hunter Osborne, Grayson Osborne, Randy Salvagno and Billy Salvagno; several nieces and nephews.
The family of Jackie “Jack” A. Reed will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, January 27, 2020, at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Cindy Ketron, Charlie Wallen and Tommy Haynes. officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, January 29, 2020, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Medlin, Hunter Osborne, Grayson Osborne and Steve Reed. The American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 will accord military honors. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am Wednesday.
