Obituary of Ralph William Mellons

Surgoinsville – Ralph William Mellons, 80 of Surgoinsville, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 8, 2020 at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea and Vietnam.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Caldwell Mellons; his son, Johnny Mellons; his parents, J.W. “Bud” and Minnie Pearl Monroe Mellons; sisters, Ruth Watts, Betty June Dalton and Hazel Smiley; brothers, J.C. Mellons and Edgar Mellons.

 

Ralph is survived by his daughter, Tracy Vaughn and husband Dale; grandchildren, Josh Swinney(Whitney), Amber Norris (Howey) and Maddie Starnes; great-grandchildren, Taylor Marlow (D.J.), Tanner Norris and Liam Swinney; sisters, Marie Hutson and Brenda McClain; sister-in-law, Ruby Mellons; very special friend, Molly; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill.

 

A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Terry Mellons officiating.

 

A military graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Morning Star Cemetery with the VFW Post #9754 of Church Hill conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be Danny Mellons, Mike Mellons, Larry Mellons, Darrell Bishop, Howey Norris, Josh Swinney and David Monroe. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery 10:45 am.
