Obituary of Leander Neal Ray

Leander Neal Ray, 78, of Kingsport went to the with the Lord on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born on May 3, 1944 in Tampa, Florida to the late Walter and Margaret Ray. Leander served as a pastor and Missionary for over 50 years and was most recently the Pastor of Mercy Seat Ministries. Leander was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Ray Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Alice Ray; daughter, Joy Ray; sister, Linda Barrow; along with his beloved church family both here and abroad.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Carter-Trent Funeral home in Kingsport. A memorial service will follow with Elder Greg Velie, Pastor Doug Atkins, and Pastor Tom Parrish officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to wear their favorite Christmas sweater or the color red in honor of Leander’s love of the Christmas season. To attend services virtually please click here
