Obituary of Betty Jane Buchanan

Betty Jane Buchanan, age 79 of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023.  Betty was born on September 12, 1943, in Sullivan County, TN.  Betty married Clyde Dale Buchanan, and together they lived a beautiful life together before his passing on October 27, 1980.

Betty loved her family.  She especially enjoyed spending time with the ’little ones’ of the family and her favorite dog, Moon.  Betty enjoyed gardening, planting flowers; and just being a good wife, mother and grandmother. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Winston Defreece and Kathleen Little; her loving husband, Clyde; two daughters, Windy Berry, and Lisa Buchanan; and one son, Sherman MacArthur Buchanan.  Betty is survived by her son, Michael Buchanan; daughter-in-law, Trisha Seaton (James); son-in-law, Joseph Berry; grandchildren, K. “Gracie” Berry, and James Buchanan; two brothers, Kent Bailey (Brenda), and Jerry Bailey; aunt, Charlotte Little; cousin, Freda Fletchers; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

There will be a reception/visitation on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Shepherd’s Rock Bible Church (500 Gravely Road, Kingsport, TN 37660) from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  A memorial service in Betty’s honor will follow at 5:00 pm with Ricky Lynn Potter and Johnny Gibson officiating.  A graveside service will follow immediately at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery.
