Tommy Jones Sr.

Obituary of Tommy Joe Jones Sr.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Tommy Joe Jones Sr., age 75 of Kingsport, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday morning, May 29, 2023.  Tommy was born on May 10, 1948, in Sullivan County, TN to Jack and Burnace Jones.  Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years, which included one tour in Vietnam.  During his time serving our country, Tommy was awarded several medals for his courageous service.

Tommy loved his family, his grandchildren, and his country.  If there was a parade to go and see, especially on July 4th, you could always find Tommy there.  Tommy enjoyed family get-togethers, and he enjoyed camping.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and three sisters.  Those left to cherish Tommy’s memory are his son, Tommy Joe Jones Jr. and his wife Tracy; daughter, Danielle Parker and husband Michael; the mother of his children, Danetta Jones; four grandchildren, Heather Jones, Jack Jones, Will Parker, and Wyatt Parker; one brother, Andy “Moose” Jones; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

A military honors graveside service for Tommy will be conducted at 2pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 3/265. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45pm.

Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Jones family.

“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”

John 16:22
