Obituary of Winona S. Perry

Winona S. Perry 89, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Dante, Virginia to the late Plez and Myrtle Salyer. She was a graduate of Dante Central High School and following her graduation she went to work at Tennessee Eastman. In 1950 she married the love of her life J.C. “Bunny” Perry and was a devoted wife until his passing in 1974. Later that year she went to work  for Copeland Office Equipment until her retirement in 1997. Winona was active with her children through being a Home Room Mother, Scout Leader, and Red Cross Volunteer. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the PGA Tour, Atlanta Braves, and Lady Vols. Winona was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by two sister, Oleta Robinson and Patty Sue Vicars; three brothers, Bobby Salyer, Ganes Salyer, and Ray Salyer.

Survivors include her son, Glenn Perry and wife Connie; daughter, Melinda Perry; grandson, Jonathan Perry and wife Tracy; two great-grandchildren, Adele Perry and Lane Perry; brother, Jimmy Salyer and wife Alice of Gallipolis, Ohio; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home with Pastor Myers Vicars officiating.
A graveside service will follow at Oak hill Memorial Park with family and friends serving  as pallbearers.
