Obituary of Glenna Irene Horton

Glenna Irene Horton, age 90, of Kingsport, peacefully went to her Heavenly home with her family by her side on Monday, May 6th, 2019. She had resided at Preston Place I for the past three years.

Glenna was born on July 17th, 1928 in Kingsport, Tn. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist since 1956 and worked in the nursery for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her father, Leonard Brickey and her mother, Emma Brickey.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Donna) Horton and Bobby Horton; Grandsons, Aaron (Suzie) Horton of Deatsville, AL, and Matt (Sarah) Horton of Kingsport; Sister, Addie Pearson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday May 9, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in downtown Kingsport. A funeral service will be held immediately thereafter with Dr. Roy Graves and Rev. Larry Browder officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019 in the Garden of Love at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Phil Whittemore officiating. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Pallbearers will be Aaron Horton, Matt Horton, Larry Loner, Jimmy Canty, Dwight Church, Tim Casey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph Sanders and Jack Casey.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the WOM of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 100 Coley St, Kingsport, TN 37660, or the Sunnyside Baptist Church building fund, 406 Cooks Valley Road, Kingsport, TN 37664.
