Obituary of Marion Jean Donelson

Marion Jean Donelson, 79, of Kingsport went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

A devout Christian, Jean was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother, known to the loves of her life, her grandchildren as Nanaw.

Jean was born on July 21, 1940 in Scott County, Virginia to the late Charlie Hubert White and Ona Bernice Pendleton White.  Along with her parents Jean is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan Diane Donelson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Eugene Ray Donelson; children, Ron Donelson and wife Candace, Lisa Donelson Long, Suzanne Quillen and husband Jeff, Michelle Donelson, Mike Donelson; grandchildren, Morgan Donelson, Madison Donelson, Tiffany Long, Brittany Dodgen, Sara Grace Quillen, Jake Donelson, Michella Eldridge, Bryr Donelson, and Cody Donelson; brother, Charles White; sisters, Lois Thacker and Linda McQueen; special friend, Madeline Alley; along with several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Scott County Funeral Home.

A funeral service will take place at 1 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Holston View Cemetery. Nanaw’s grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. DeMotts of Mountain Region Family Medicine and his staff for over 39 years of faithful and loving care throughout the years, Kindred at Home, NHC of Kingsport, Holston Valley, and all the caregivers and  friends who came in to help with the care of Jean.
