Obituary of Elsie Marie Tipton

Elsie Marie Tipton, 86, of Kingsport, TN went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 15^th at The Village at Allandale (Virginia’s Garden). She was born on April 30^th, 1935 in Hiltons, VA. Elsie was wonderfully devoted to her family and found true joy in her grandchildren. Her attitude of meekness was inspiring to all who met her. She only saw the good in people and her smile was contagious. Anyone who knew her loved her. Her attitude was an example of the grace and forgiveness of Christ. Her favorite things in life were family, attending church, Gospel music, the beach, gardening, and the Tennessee Vols football team. She attended Hilltop Mission Church.

Elsie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, John E. Tipton, Jr.; her grandmother, Belle McMurray who raised her; her father, Sherman McMurray; sisters Nancy McKinney, Jean Derrick and Cassie Buchanan; brothers Buck McMurray, Lester McMurray and Roy McMurray.

Surviving are her daughters, Debbie Mallett of Church Hill and Barbara Willis and husband Steve of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Alan Crawford, Amanda Castle and Ashley Blevins; four great-grandchildren, Alexis and Grayson Castle, Avery and Aidan Blevins.

A memorial and graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on July 18^th at Holston View Cemetery with Preacher Jimmy Tipton officiating. Music will be provided by the Tipton family. Pallbearers will be Alan Crawford, Darrell McKinney, Steve Willis, Ron Castle, Matthew Blevins and Grayson Castle. Honorary pallbearer will be Aidan Blevins.
