Obituary of Savanah Katharine Cloyd

Savanah Katharine Salyers Cloyd, born February 5, 1988, went to be with the Lord Friday, November 10, 2023. She was a resident of Dungannon, VA. Savanah graduated from Rye Cove High School in 2006 where she was a member of the marching band, concert band and the winter guard. Savanah was All State, All District, All County Band as well as Clarinet ensemble and Solo ensemble. She received the instrumentalist musician award and was a band officer. She attended Mountain Empire Community College and UVA at Wise. She later became a manager at GPM Enterprises. Savanah was a proud mother, a dedicated wife, a loyal sister, a treasured friend and a precious daughter.

Savanah was preceded in death by her brother, Tyler St. John Salyers, her father, Donnie Edward Salyers, her paternal grandparents, Maggie Dooley Salyers and Cogan Salyers, her maternal grandparents, Nancy Blankenship and Claude Hartsock.

Survivors include her husband, John Cloyd; sons: Alijah “Bubby” Cloyd and Barrett “BearBear” Cloyd; her mother, Karen Hartsock of Dungannon, VA; her sister and brother-in-law, Kasandra Salyers and Jeremy Jordan; her nephews, Levi and Luka Jordan of Nickelsville, VA; special aunts, Robin Howington and Jackie Taylor; special cousins, Heather Taylor, Sarah and Ariana Howington; her beloved cats: Mr. Bugio, Sasser, ChiChi and Swank Daddy.

The family will receive friends 5:00pm – 6:00pm on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Dungannon Freewill Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow with Pastor Walter Taylor. A private graveside service will be on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Sluss Cemetery. Jackie Taylor will lead the family in their final goodbyes.

Pallbearers will be John Cloyd, Alijah Cloyd, Richard Davis, Jeremy Jordan, Roger Hartsock, and Ariana Howington.
