Obituary of Mike Richards

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5 KJV Mike Richards' faith was made sight when he met Jesus on Friday, November 21, 2014 at age 58, following an extended illness. He was a faithful follower of Jesus, prayer warrior to many, and attended Tri-Cities Baptist Church. He was a retiree of Eastman Chemical Company and enjoyed working in his garden and tending to his flowers. Most of all, Mike was a loving husband and father, always talking about how blessed he was with his wife and daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jean Richards; maternal grandparents, Dennie and Pauline Casteel; paternal grandparents, John and Riddie Richards; and mother-in-law, Ina Mae Bishop. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Terri Richards; cherished daughter, Melanie Richards; sister, Sharon Cole; "adopted daughter", Laura Taylor; father-in-law, JR Bishop; second mom, Nancy Rolen; sisters-in-law, Susan Bedford (Ron) and Bethany Allen (Bob); niece, Tammy Marques; nephew, Steven Bedford; great-nephew, Stone Stevens; several aunts, uncles, extended family and close friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Derick Sherfey and Eulogist Jason McAllister officiating. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:20 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Cities Baptist Church local and global missions fund. Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport is honored to serve the Richards family.
