Obituary of Barbara Thacker Catron

Barbara Anne Thacker Catron, 68, of Yuma was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Hawkins County and lived the majority of her life in Yuma. She worked at Alladdin Plastics and retired from Quebecor (Hawkins County Plant). She loved to sew, make quilts and loved to work outside especially in the garden. Barbara was a member of Pink Hill Primitive Baptist Church and also attended Catron Chapel Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Edna Thacker; her brothers, Howard Thacker and Ron Thacker; a nephew, Tristan Toler; special uncle Willie Thacker, a niece, Glenda Thacker and significant other, Roger Davis. Survivors include her daughter, Robin Catron; her son, Tony Catron and significant other, Christy Holtzclaw; grandchildren, Heather Ireson; special grand-daughter, Haylee Vinson; two sisters, Judy Winegar and Armenda Thacker; a brother, Merlin Thacker & wife Lynn, sister-in-law, Pam Thacker and a special friend, Nannie Mae Thacker. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday at the Thacker Family Cemetery, Surgoinsville, TN with Pastor Larry Tolley, officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm. Pallbearers will be her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday at the Catron Chapel Baptist Church, 9387 Yuma Road, Gate City, Virginia with Pastor Larry Tolley, officiating. Music will be provided by Roy Thacker and family. Carter-Trent / Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Catron family.
