Obituary of Earl Johnson

Earl Johnson, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior (Monday, July 28th, 2014) Born and raised in Blackwater, Virginia he was saved at an early age and joined Blackwater Primitive Baptist Church where he was a faithful member until he moved to Fairfax, Virginia. He retired from the Fairfax County School Systems in 1988 and shortly after, moved back to Kingsport. He later joined Westview Primitive Baptist Church, where he faithfully attended and attended the associational meeting until he was no longer able to go. Earl always loved his church family and never forgot his Blackwater family and friends. He held them dear to his heart, always willing to help them in any way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minter and Elizabeth Osborne Johnson; one sister, Naomi; two brothers, George Andrew and Burley Johnson He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Draxie Johnson; one daughter, Angela Johnson who was the love of his life; one sister, Bertha Creech who was dearly loved; one niece, Joyce Shuppes; one nephew, Harold Creech; one dear friend, L.C. Wallen, Florida; several brothers in law who he loved and admire; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved so much also, faithful friend, Tommy Dotson The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm Tuesday (July 29th, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 11am Wednesday (July 30th, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home with Elders Bernice Sybert, Oscar Irvin and Greg Hill offciating. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and church family. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Walton, Jack Osborne, Earl Galloway, Ray Sybert, Tommy Dotson Paul Rogers and Glen Bishop. Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Johnson family.
