Obituary of Carolyn M. Bellamy

Carolyn M. Bellamy, 83 of Church Hill, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home with her children and family by her side. She was born in Scott County Virginia and lived most of her life in Church Hill. She worked for Morrison City Water Department for 15 years, followed by 18 years of employment at the City of Kingsport. She was a charter member of Calvary Lighthouse Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and pianist until her declining health no longer permitted her to do so. Carolyn's greatest attribute was the gift of hospitality. Her heart's desire was to serve her family and friends and share the love of Christ with all she met, not only by her words but most importantly by her deeds of sacrificial love. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Isaac Bellamy; her parents, Dewey and Ora Ervin McConnell; three brothers, Fred, CD and Wayne McConnell and a great granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Bellamy. Survivors include her two sons, Ryland Bellamy & wife Judy, Dennis Bellamy & wife Jessie; three daughters, Betsy Smith & husband Rodney, Dreama Hunter & husband Doug, Amy Thacker & husband Doug, all of Church Hill; a brother, James Dewey (Jim) McConnell of Irving Texas; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a very special best friend of 58 years, Sue Adams. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Calvary Lighthouse Baptist Church, 655 Way Cross Road, Church Hill or anytime at her residence. A funeral service will be at 2 pm on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Calvary Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Randall Stapleton and Ben Bellamy, officiating. A special eulogy will be presented by two of her grandsons, Tim and Clint Bellamy along with her nephew Rick McConnell. Burial will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens, Church Hill. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are, Alvis Adkins, Earl Hensley and Sam Snapp. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the family of Carolyn Bellamy.
