Obituary of Ruth Brewer Brooks

Ruth Brewer Brooks, 95, went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 29, 2014. She was born April 24, 1919 in Rogersville, TN the youngest of 9 children born to Lucretia Emmaline and Robert Taylor Brewer. After her marriage to Ernest Brooks in 1941, she resided in Kingsport all her married life. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and faithfully attended until her health declined. In addition to her parents and her siblings she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ernest Brooks; and her first great granddaughter, Hannah Brooks Hain. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Billy) Martin and Connie (Terry) Begley all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Tracy (Rhonda) Martin, Bryan (Lisa) Martin, Amy (Scott) Hain, Kent (Candice) Begley; great grandchildren, Bradley Martin, Kathleen Ruth Hain, Samuel Scott Hain and an expected great granddaughter Begley in the Fall; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturday July 5, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Stout officiating. Music will be provided by Matthew Brickey. Graveside will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Terry Begley, Kent Begley, Scott Hain, Billy Martin, Bob Quillen, Tracy Martin, Bryan Martin, Gary Martin. The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to everyone at Asbury at Steadman Hill for their great love, support, and kindness to our mother and entire family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of one's choice. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Brooks family.
