Obituary of Edward Wallace

Edward "Ode" Wallace, 72, of Kingsport, passed away Monday morning, April 7, 2014, at the home of his daughter, Sherry Wallace Bradley, after a courageous battle of pancreatic cancer. He was born in Hawkins County and moved to Sullivan County at an early age and lived here the rest of his life. Ode retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department as a dispatcher after 26 years of service. He was a member of Bible Way Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and walking with his little four legged buddy, "Roscoe." The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Douglas Springer, Dr. Bruce Vincent, Dr. Daniel E. Krenk and to the staff at Wexford House. He was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Dora Head Wallace; a twin brother, James Leo Wallace; a step sister, Vinnie Davis; a brother in law, Al Freeman and his father in law and mother in law, Steve and Marie Hutchins. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years and caregiver, Margaret Hutchins Wallace, of the home; daughter, Sherry Wallace Bradley of Kingsport; sisters, Thelma Freeman of Blountville, Chloras Marshall and husband, Gene of Kingsport; brothers, James R. "Bud" Wallace and wife, Debbie of Kingsport, Hansel "Peanut" Wallace and wife, Charlotte of Blountville and A.D. Wallace and wife, Marcia of Knoxville; sister in law Eileen Purisima and husband, Bing of California; brother in law, Randy Hutchins and wife, Donna of Kingsport and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call anytime at the residence of his daughter, Sherry Wallace Bradley, 201 Rosehaven Ct., (Colonial Heights) Kingsport. A Mausoleum Committal Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Oak Hill IV Mausoleum with Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating. Music will be provided by Melissa Woods. Family and friends are asked to meet at Oak Hill at 10:50am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the family of Edward "Ode" Wallace.
