Obituary of Betty Rhoton Quate

Gate City - Betty Rhoton Quate, 85 of Gate City, passed away Friday March 14, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Quate was born in Scott County, VA on March 5, 1929, to the late Arthur Rhoton and Emma Rhoton Kern. She was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion R. "Pete" Quate; her son, Artie Quate and her sister, Helen Rhoton Ford. Mrs. Quate is survived by her niece, Sally E. "Betsy" France; granddaughter, Jeanne France and her daughters, Ali France and Toni France; grandson, Michael France and wife Angela, daughter and son, Autumn France and Levi France. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Barber officiating. Music will be provided by Autumn France and Tattered Saints. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Gennis Ford, Steve Wade, Seth Frazier, Jeffrey Williams, Levi France and Jerome Gouge. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Quate family.
