Obituary of James Kelly Lane

James Kelly Lane, 81, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday night at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Scott County, VA and had lived in this area his entire life. James worked several years at Modern Bakery and Holston Defense before retiring from Eastman Chemical Company in 1995. He was currently employed with the Kingsport Times News. He loved to hunt and fish. He attended Gospel Assembly Church where he served as an usher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Mary Jones Lane; a brother, Ralph Lane. James Lane is survived by his loving wife, Cora Lane; a daughter, Teresa Graham; step-son, Scott Shipley and wife, Luann; granddaughter, Crystal Shipley along with 3 additional granddaughters; brothers, Emory Lane and wife, Geneva, Roy Lane and wife, Janice, Rev. AJ Lane and wife, Geneva, Rev. George Lane and wife, Tammy, Rev. Bill Lane and wife, Betty; his sister, Anna Lou Bledsoe; his best friend, I.J. Sloan along with several nieces and nephews. A burial will take place on Thursday (February 20, 2014) at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with his brothers officiating. Music will be provided by Neal McMurray. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Lane family.
