Obituary of Minnie J. Sorah

Mt Carmel - Minnie J. Sorah, 86 of Mount Carmel, TN went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2014 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was raised in East Stone Gap, VA and later moved to Kingsport. She worked at Kingsport Press and later she and her husband owned and operated Appalachian Electronics in Kingsport for 40 years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Sorah; parents Elmer J. Jones and Bessie Logan Jones; brothers, Paul Jones and Clyde Jones. Minnie is survived by her sisters Blanche Milhorn of Piney Flats; Ruth Lane and husband Allen of Salisbury, MD; Faye Tucker of Kingsport; Babs Willis and husband John of Kingsport; and brother, Vernon Jones and wife Nancy of Kingsport, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill, TN. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Presnell officiating. Music will be provided by the Lighthouse Quartet. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. The family wishes to especially thank hospice caregivers Sandra, Sheila and Chaplain Mike for the superb care and kindness shown to Minnie during her illness, as well as, neighbors William Overbay and Greg and Mona Church.
