Obituary of JoAnn Fields Dykes

JoAnn Dykes Kingsport- JoAnn Fields Dykes, 79, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday night (February 14, 2014) at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Russell County, VA and had moved to Kingsport at an early age. Mrs. Dykes was a member of Vernon Heights Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Dykes; brothers, Fred Fields, Louis Fields, and Howard Fields. JoAnn Dykes is survived by her son, Ronald Mullins and wife, Billie (Archer City, TX); a grandson, John Mullins (Freer, TX); a sister, Pauline Buttry (Castlewood, VA); bother, Leon Fields; her niece, Vicki Ireson; nephew, Bobby Cole Buttry; a great niece, Beth Ireson along with many dear friends. Calling hours will be held on Monday (February 17, 2014) from 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Anglin and Brother Leland Gott, officiating. An entombment service will follow the funeral on Monday (February 17, 2014) at Valley View Mausoleum in Temple Hill Cemetery (Castlewood, VA). Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are asked to be made to Wellmont Hospice or Vernon Heights Baptist Church, Sullivan Gardens (Building Fund). Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Dykes family.
