Obituary of Claire L. Blair

Claire L. Blair, 92, formerly resided in Dungannon, VA and Plainfield, CT, passed away at Nova Health and Rehab, February 8th, 2014. Claire was a lady of style and grace. She spent most of her early life in Plainfield, Conneticut; but in the last few years she has lived in this area with her children. She was a baseball and football mom and an expert seamstress from bedspreads to wedding gowns to Halloween costumes. She won blue ribbons for her embroidery crewel. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the VFW Chorus in Plainfield, CT. In her 90 plus years, she lived life to the fullest. She was an avid shopper (with a skill for shopping without buying), a lover of the beach and the ocean; but the most important thing to Claire was her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Blair, son Gary Blair and grandson, Jesse Carter; brother and sister in law, Tibbet and Clara Bouley; sister and brother in law, Gert and George Sheilds and brothers in law, Pete Vezina and Tom Sherman. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Nancy Blair Carter, her son, Michael C. Blair; four grandchildren, Tina Blair, Shane Blair, Jeb Carter and wife Jessica and Casey Blair; five great grandchildren, Brook, Chloe, Shana, Cole and Madison; two sisters, Terry Vezina and Irene Sherman; brother, Robert Bouley and wife Pauline, several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff and nurses of Nova Health and Rehab, Weber City for making the last few months of Claire's life so happy. Thanks to Kim and Rhonda at Wellmont; and to our friends at Clinch River Health Services for their love and support. A heartfelt thank you to Andrew Gauvin for the CARE he gave Claire while still at home. Claire will be laid to rest with her husband and son in Connecticut at a later date. Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Blair family.
