Obituary of Anna Lou Moore Churchwell

Anna Lou Moore Churchwell, 90, passed away late Thursday evening, January 30, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Sullivan County on January 18, 1924, to the late Charlie E. and Mary Fletcher Moore. She was employed by Tennessee Eastman prior to becoming a devoted wife and mother. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mamaw, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church for 62 years where in her earlier years she had been a dedicated nursery worker and later a faithful member of the Mary Anne Buckner Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch T. Churchwell; infant son, Jerry Lynn Churchwell; son and daughter-in-law, Enoch Ray and Debra Dunn Churchwell; three sisters, Virginia Wampler, Marie Dougherty and Martha Moore; two brothers, Hubert Moore and Oscar Moore. Surviving are four daughters; Shirley Churchwell, Brenda Kay Painter and husband Clarence, Martha Churchwell and Barbara (Bobbie) Shirley and husband Keith; one son, David Ray Churchwell and wife Kelley; three grandchildren, Joshua Lane and Brittany, Ryleigh Churchwell and Mason Churchwell; one great granddaughter, Kaelynn Lane; two sisters, Irene White and Leola Larkin; one brother, James Moore; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 3 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will follow at 5 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Charles Buckner and Rev. Frank Proffitt officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 am to in to procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Churchwell family.
