Obituary of Nancy June Barger

Nancy June Salyer Barger, 71, of Hiltons, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Indian Path Medical Center. Nancy was born in Anniston, Alabama however she lived most of her life in this area. She had an extensive career as a Registered Nurse working several years at Indian Path Medical Center where she made many lasting friendships. Nancy was a member of Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church. She was well known for her needlework and sewing capabilities. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother having great pride for each of her grandchildren. She was a friend to many and was affectionately known as "Nan" and had the ability to make people laugh even during difficult times. She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Barger; parents, R.J. and June Salyer and sister, Frankie Heffner. She is survived by her husband of 51 Years, Carl Barger; two daughters, Carla Spivey and husband Ben and their daughter Tia Spivey, Wendi Glover and her children, Mariah and Baily Glover; nephews, Glenn Heffner and Larry and Nina Heffner and their son, Daniel The family will receive friends from 5 till 7pm (January 23, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Mark Kilbourne, Rev. Randy Powers and Rev. Will Shewey officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm Friday (January 24, 2013) at Darthula Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Heffner, Robbie Lane, Jeff Barger, Daniel Heffner, John Barger, Jeff Faust, Mike Bright and Mark Sampson. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Barger, Bobby Lane, Jerry Larkey, Joey Salyer, Japeth Bright, Joe Vermillion and Eddie Wilmoth. Those who plan to attend the graveside are invited to join the family in procession and meet at the funeral home at 12:15pm Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church, building fund 2869 Hiltons Rd Gate City, Virginia 24251.
