Obituary of Jessie Heck

JESSIE HECK, JR. Kingsport- Jessie Heck, Jr., 86, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening (January 16, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Greene County and had resided the majority of his life in Kingsport. He was a former member of Temple Baptist Church for many years and was a current member of West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Jessie retired from Tennessee Eastman Company after 38 years of service. He was a charter member of Kingsport Life Saving Crew who also volunteered his time to the Bancroft Bible Camp. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and especially go camping. Mr. Heck was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Willie Thacker Heck; a sister, Ulvia Seay; his brother, Vernon Heck; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. George K. and Blanche Taylor. Jessie Heck, Jr. is survived by his loving wife for over 46 years, Evelyn Taylor Heck; his sisters, Kathleen Shanks (Kingsport, TN), Yvonne Dixon and husband, Harold (Decatur, GA); brothers, Bobby Heck and wife, Teddie (Gainesville, GA), Steve Heck (Melbourne, FL); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, E. Wayne and Phyllis Taylor (Kingsport, TN) along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (January 19, 2014) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (January 19, 2014) at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wes Rankin, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday (January 20, 2014) at 11 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with friends serving as pallbearers. Luther Fields will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Heck family.
