Obituary of Lee Smith

Lee Smith Weber City, Lee Smith, 83 of Weber City, The Happiest Man in Scott County, went on to be with the Lord and became the Happiest man in Paradise Wednesday night, November 6, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County. He worked at Phillips Furniture before serving the the U.S. Army. He returned from the Military and soon founded Rhoton & Smith Furniture with the help of his In-laws (John and Ethel Rhoton). With God's help he was the founder of the Log House Church in the summer of 1977 and where he was currently doing his live broadcast thru WGAT radio. This same broadcast was shown weekly on Scott County Cable. Lee was a daily fixture in Scott County driving his 1978 Cadillac. He truly loved to play his bluegrass gospel music for all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Peter and Mary Ellen Fields Smith; two infant grandchildren; three sisters, Lena Beth Ryan, Lora Lane, Agnes J. Wise and Carol Lumpkins; one brother, Charlie P. Smith, Jr.; along with several nieces, nephews and countless friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorcas Rhoton Smith; daughter, Arvella S. Lane and husband Ricky "Cap" Lane, their daughter, Kristina M.S. Johnson and husband Jason Johnson and their children, Avery Johnson and Gabriel Johnson; son, Aaron Smith and wife Becky, their children, Rosa Smith, Emily Smith, and Quintin Smith; three brothers, George B. Smith, Carl W. Smith and Gerald D. Smith; along with a countless number of family and friends. The family will receive friends beginning at 4 pm on Friday November 8, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 US Highway 23 N, Weber City. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Log House Church, Weber City with Evangelist Pat Hammond, Evangelist George Lane and Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Music will be provided by the Sluss Family, Sisters in Christ, Glen Lovell and Haylee Kinsler. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Log House Church, 2368 US Highway 23N, Suite 101, Weber City, VA 24290. Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
