Obituary of Cecil L. Thompson

Cecil L. Thompson, 65, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning at his residence following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, Tennessee. He retired from the Eastman Company following many years of service. He will always be remembered for his caring heart and his love of people and especially his great sense of humor. He was a member of First Apostolic Church in Kingsport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Vesta McCann Thompson; a sister, Thelma Moore. Surviving are his wife, Sue Thompson, daughters Lisa Horne and husband, Michael, Teresa Strickler and husband, Kelly Wayne all of Kingsport; step-daughter, Elizabeth Daily of Johnson City; grandchildren, Madison and Katie Horne, Taylor Strickler, Olivia Daily, and Jeffrey McKinney; brothers, Earl Thompson and wife, Lillian of Kingsport, and Jack Thompson of Kingsport; brother-In-law, Bill Moore of Indianapolis, IN; a dear friend, Terry Alexander of Kingsport along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday, October 11, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, Tn. A funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joel Waldron officiating. Music will be provided by The Benton Family. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kelly Wayne Strickler, Michael Horne, Terry Alexander, Jerry Davis, Earl Thompson, and Paul Cookenour. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Dover, Jack Thompson, and Bill Moore. Carter-Trent Funeral Home is serving the Thompson family.
