Obituary of Ronnie Greer

Surgoinsville - William Ronald "Ronnie" Greer, 61 of Surgoinsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 8, 2013 at his residence. Ronnie was a life-long resident of Hawkins County. He was a 43-year employee of AGC and was known as "Curly" to his co-workers. He was a graduate of Surgoinsville High School and a member of their first football team. He was a former alderman of Surgoinsville and was a member of First Baptist Church of Surgoinsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, K. D. and Ada Sellers Greer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Odell Arnold; brother-in-laws, Terry Arnold, Glenn Kimbro and Carl Sandidge. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debbie Arnold Greer of the home; daughter, Jennifer Ellis and husband Richard of Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Taylor Ellis (the apple of his eye); sisters, Betty Jean Sandidge, Linda Kimbro both of Surgoinsville; brothers, Gerald Greer and wife Linda and Jim Greer and wife Carolyn all of Kingsport and Kelly Greer and wife Martha of AL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tracy and Teresa Arnold; special nephew, T. J. Arnold; several other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jesse Hartgrove and Pastor Tecky Hicks officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at Armstrong Cemetery (Amis Chapel Road). Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Greer family.
