Obituary of Eula Massengill

Eula Rhoton Massengill, 88, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 8, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital after a period of declining health. She was born in Scott County, Virginia and had been a resident of Kingsport most of her life. Mrs. Massengill was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, friend and was a member of Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church She was preceded in death by her mother, Melinda Pierson Rhoton; her father; sisters, Nora Lyons, Bee Rhoton, Georgia Rhoton and Julia Gibson; brothers, Arthur Rhoton , Dave Rhoton, Walter Rhoton, Everett Rhoton, Frank Rhoton, Daniel Rhoton and Mitchell Rhoton. Surviving are her daughter, Linda M. Couch of Kingsport; grandson, David R. Hurd and wife, Kathy of Nashville; sister, Amanda Adams of Gray and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Friday, July 12, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Allen Hensley and Billy Jack Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by Elizabeth Ward. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Everlasting Life. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10am at Carter-Trent Funeral Home to go to the cemetery in a procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown is serving the Eula Massengill family.
