Obituary of George Dodson

George S. Dodson, affectionately known as "Pappy", 88, of Rogersville passed away Thursday morning, July 4, 2013 at Mountain Home V.A. Center. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Dodson was a retired stone mason and was the owner of Dodson Stone Company in Kingsport. He helped to build and was the manager of Kingsport Speedway during the late 1960's. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ethel Dodson, brother, Clifford; sister, Mabel. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bowman Dodson of Rogersville; daughter, Georgina Mowl and husband, Jerry of Rogersville; three grandchildren, Rachel Mowl and Raeanna Mowl both of Nashville and Matthew Mowl of Rogersville; sisters, Lorraine and Kathleen; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and other relatives. Military graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday July 7, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with services conducted by American Legion Post 265/3. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Dodson family.
