Obituary of Linda Lou Harris

Linda Lou Harris, 71, of Blountville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Linda was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School. She retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1996 after 36 years of service. Her last assignment was in the Worldwide Sales division. She and former husband, Marty Mullins, owned Wallace News from 1974-1984. She continued on as the bookkeeper for Wallace News. Linda loved music and was a church musician for several area churches. She was an avid cat lover. Linda's childhood home church was Pleasant View Baptist Church and attended Vermont United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Ted A. Harris; mother, Lula B. Harris; both sets of grandparents, Echol and Alice Bowen and Melvin and Nannie Addington Harris. Surviving are her brother, Rev. T. Richard Harris & wife, Shirley (Kingsport, TN); nieces, Cindy Pettigrew & husband, Dr. J. Andrew Pettigrew III (Chantilly, VA), Joy Hunter & husband Jeff (Knoxville, TN); a nephew, Ted R. Harris, Jr. (Hendersonville, NC); great nieces, Lindsay Zenelis, Avery Pettigrew, Haley Parent, Emily Harris, and Olivia Calloway; the mother of Haley and Emily, Linda Jean Harris; along with several precious aunts, cousins, and many dear friends. A visitation will take place on Sunday November 2, 2014 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of her brother. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Baker and Rev. T. Richard Harris, officiating. Music will be provided by Alvin Goins. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon's International, P.O.
