Obituary of Marjorie Thomas Erwin

Marjorie Thomas Erwin age 88 of Kingsport passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday morning September 16, 2014. She was born in Erwin TN, and was married to the late Isaac Eugene Erwin for 50 years. She was the daughter of the late G.H. and Mildred Watkins Thomas. Marjorie retired from the Children's Clinic in Kingsport after 18 years of service. She enjoyed camping, cooking and dancing. Mrs. Erwin loved opening up her home to everyone, especially during the Holidays. She was witty, spunky, and loved by everyone that knew her. Her most happy moments were being with her children, grandchildren and most recently being a great -great grandmother. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hamilton, Hunter and James Thomas; sisters, Elizabeth Treadway and Hazel Anderson; brother-in-laws, Raymond "RT" Erwin, Herrald Erwin and Bill Erwin; sister-in-law, Mildred Congdon. She is survived by her son, Jim Erwin and Lori Hagen; daughter, Cindy Holt and son-in-law, Mike; granddaughters, Emily Doughtery, Elizabeth McAbee, Kelly Brown, Sara Lawson, and Sarah Holt; grandsons, Michael Holt, Jon and Kyle Hagen; great-grandchildren, Tripp and Harper Dougherty, Dustin and Shelbie McAbee, Patrick, Brianna, Derrick, Kellan and Jalee Brown, Isaac Call, Jacob and Raylan Lawson, Kellan, Lleyton and Rowan Good; great-great granddaughter, Aubree McAbee; brother and sister in law, Karl and Imogene Thomas; sisters-in-law, Eunice Morris and Lois Auman; brother-in-law, Charles Erwin; several nieces and nephews; her caregiver, Jewel Guy; best friends, Jean Holt, Dennis Zollenger and her beloved dog, Teddy . The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday September 20, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN. A service will be held at 1 pm in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin, TN. Pallbearers will be Rick Thacker, Rob Maloof, Tommy Anderson, John Good, Michael Holt and Jon Hagan. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends of Fleetwood Court. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Erwin family.
